Puffle Care, Leveling & Digging

Puffle Leveling

A Comprehensive Guide to Leveling

Introduced to CPJ during the March 2025 Puffle Party, puffle leveling is a Pokémon-inspired system that allows users to level up their puffle using CPJ’s puffle care interface in order to dig coins and items around the island when taken on a walk.

In this guide, we'll show you the best way we've found to quickly and efficiently level your puffle up.

What Is Puffle Leveling?

Puffle Level Symbols

There are a few different symbols or animations that you will see when leveling your puffle. Here's what each one means.

  • Green Level Up - This means your puffle has leveled up (i.e. level 1 -> level 2).

  • Red Heart w/ green plus - This means your puffle has gained XP towards its overall level.

  • Pink Hearts - This icon appears when you play with your puffle while all your puffle's needs are met at 100%.

  • Zzz's - Your puffle's sleepiness has changed. A plus sign means your puffle is well-rested while a minus sign means your puffle is sleepy.

  • Sleepy Moon - This icon appears when you do a puffle activity when your puffle needs sleep.

  • Three Bubbles - Your puffle's cleanliness has changed. A plus sign means your puffle is cleaner while a minus sign means it is dirtier.

  • Dirt Splash - This icon appears when you do a puffle activity when your puffle needs a bath.

  • Cookie - Your puffle's hunger has changed. A plus sign means it is less hungry while a minus sign means it is hungrier.

  • Broken Cookie - This icon appears when you do a puffle activity when your puffle is hungry.

The Sleepy Moon, Dirt Splash and Broken Cookie are all considered to be rarer icons than the others. The only occur when you force a puffle to complete an action and one of the three needs is below 20%.

How To Level Your Puffle

There are a few different ways to level your puffle. After months of testing, we've found two methods that'll level your puffles up quickly.

In order to begin either of these methods, your puffle must be level 1 in order to walk it.

Reach level 1 by completing three to four activities with your puffle in your igloo. This can be a combination of playing with your puffle, feeding your puffle, giving your puffle a bath or making your puffle sleep. Now, the true grind begins!

Reaching Level 1

The Puffle Park Method

This popular method allows you to quickly level up your puffle by utilizing the Puffle Park. With this method, we were able level up a puffle from level 1 to level 2 within 6 minutes. The goal is to spend about 2 seconds at each station. You should see the Red XP Heart after each action but, if you do not, move on to the next station.

Keep following the instructions - the heart doesn't always appear. Don't wait for it to either.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Complete all puffle activities in your igloo (play, sleep, gum, cookie, Puffle O's, bath). You don't have to wait for the animations to complete, you can go straight to the next one.

  2. Equip your puffle for a walk.

  3. Using the Spy Phone, teleport to the Puffle Park. (Tip: Click up on the dial 18 times to quickly reach the Puffle Park.)

  4. Once you arrive at the Puffle Park, dance for a short moment.,

  5. Walk your puffle to the left seat of the feeding station. If it is not free, use the right feeding station.,

  6. Feed your puffle at the feeding station for two seconds. If you are able to, use the next feeding station for two seconds. If you can't, skip to step 7.,

  7. Take your puffle to the lake for 2 seconds.,

  8. Take your puffle to the trampoline for 2 seconds.,

  9. Walk away from the trampoline. Wait 31 seconds before starting the process over again at the feeding station (step 5).

  10. Complete a total of 4 of these laps in the Puffle Park with a 31-second break between each lap.

  11. Return to your igloo to begin the process once more by completing all the puffle activities (step 1).

The Stopwatch Method

Created by Ghos, this puffle leveling method quickly levels up your puffle with a tad less clicking. With this method, we were able to bring a level 1 puffle to a level 2 within 5 minutes.

The goal here is to complete one round of puffle activities within your igloo and 3-4 short walks within 2 minutes. Tip: Make sure to have a stopwatch or timer nearby with a lap feature.

Here are the steps:

  1. Start your stopwatch.

  2. Complete all puffle activities in your igloo (play, sleep, gum, cookie, Puffle O's, bath). You don't have to wait for the animations to complete, you can go straight to the next one.,

  3. Equip your puffle for a walk.

  4. Using the Map or Spy Phone, go to any room on the Island. In this example, we went to the Dojo.

  5. Once you arrive at your location, dance for a short moment.

  6. Click anywhere to walk a short distance.

  7. Once your penguin stops moving, immediately hit the lap on your time.

  8. After 30 seconds, dance again.

  9. Once again, click anywhere in the room to walk a short distance.

  10. Hit the lap once more. After another 30 seconds, you can walk again.

  11. Repeat the short walks as many times as you can in 2 minutes. Once the 2 minutes are up, return to your igloo and begin the cycle again (step one).

In our testing, it took us about 15 seconds to complete all the puffle activities and arrive to the Dojo. This allowed us to complete 3 short walks within the remaining time.

How Long Does It Take?

This is where the process truly becomes a grind. As you continue to level your puffle up, you may complete many of these cycles without seeing a visual increase in XP. However, it all adds up - the higher the level your puffle is, the more XP is needed to level up. We really started to notice this once our puffles were in their teen levels.

Here are some rough estimates for how quickly you can level up your puffle using either method:

  • Level 1-10: under one hour per level up.

  • Level 11-20: between one and two hours per level up.

  • Level 21-30: two to four hours per level up.

  • Level 31-40: four to six hours per level up.

  • Level 41-60: six to eight hours per level up.

  • Level 61-90: eight hours per level up.

  • Level 91-100: ten hours per level up.

Based on our testing, you can reach Level 5 within 45 minutes using either of these methods. Here is an estimate of how much time it would take to achieve levels 1 through 5.

Playing Games

You can also earn XP and level up your puffle if your puffle has favorite mini game. Currently, there are 6 puffles that have a favorite mini games.

They are:

  • Red Puffle: Catchin' Waves

  • Pink Puffle: Aqua Grabber

  • Black Puffle: Cart Surfer

  • Green Puffle: Jet Pack Adventure

  • Yellow Puffle: DJ3K

  • Purple Puffle: Dance Contest

The amount of XP that your puffle earns from playing its favorite mini game is only a small amount. While we still recommend using the above methods to level up your puffle, adopting a red, pink, black, green, yellow or purple puffle can help you level up optimally as these puffles have access to 12 activities instead of 11.
