A Comprehensive Guide to Digging

Introduced to CPJ during the March 2025 Puffle Party, puffle digging allows your puffle to dig coins and items around the island when taken on a walk. Your puffle must be level 5 to start digging.

What Is Puffle Digging?

Item List

Currently, there are three pools of items that correspond with its own set of levels. Each item pool is locked into its own levels. This means that your level 20 puffle cannot dig up an item from the Level 8-19 pool.

With this in mind, we recommend taking a break from leveling up to find all items in a single pool before moving on to the next set of levels.

How Do I Make My Puffle Dig?

To start digging, take any level 5 puffle on a walk. To take your puffle on a walk, click on your puffle your igloo and select the leash icon. Now, head to any location on the Island and begin walking.

Our testing has shown there to be a roughly 5-6 minute cool-down on puffle digging. We recommend going to any location on the Island, walking a short distance, standing still for 5-6 minutes, walking a short distance again, and starting the process over. However, taking a walk around the island can also yield good results. Also, your puffle can dig up items during either of the leveling up methods from above.

You will know if your puffle has dug up an item if you see your puffle partake in a digging animation. Each puffle has its own unique animation. Additionally, a treasure chest or coin bag will appear above your puffle's head, depending on what they dug up. You will also receive a gold notification at the top of your screen telling you what your puffle dug up.

How Long Does It Take?

Just like puffle leveling, puffle digging can also be a grind. Additionally, RNG plays a part in the process as your puffle will often dig up coins more often than items.

After extensive testing, we estimate the chance of digging up an item to be 1 in 20 but, this too can differ each time due to RNG.
